1982 Grammy Awards (24th) – Complete List of Winners and Nominees

The 24th Annual Grammy Awards, held on February 24, 1982, acknowledged recordings from October 1, 1980, to September 30, 1981. John Lennon and Yoko Ono's poignant and deeply personal album Double Fantasy posthumously won Album of the Year, a bittersweet yet fitting tribute following Lennon's tragic death.
Kim Carnes' distinctive and popular "Bette Davis Eyes" secured Record of the Year. Sheena Easton, a rising star with a powerful voice, was named Best New Artist.
Other recipients included Al Jarreau for jazz and Quincy Jones for production. This ceremony reflected a blend of traditional pop, emerging new wave influences, and a somber yet celebratory tribute to a beloved music legend, showcasing the Grammys' role in reflecting both musical trends and cultural moments.
