1965 Grammy Awards (7th) – Complete List of Winners and Nominees
The 7th Annual Grammy Awards, held on April 13, 1965, acknowledged recordings released from October 1, 1963, to September 30, 1964. While The Beatles were beginning to revolutionize popular music, their major Grammy impact would largely manifest in later ceremonies.
The culturally significant bossa nova album Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz and João Gilberto impressively won Album of the Year, significantly popularizing the Brazilian genre in the United States and showcasing the Grammys' embrace of international sounds. Louis Armstrong's heartwarming and iconic "Hello, Dolly!" secured Record of the Year.
The Beatles did win for Best New Artist. This period saw the Grammys navigating the immense shifts brought by the British Invasion and the burgeoning folk and jazz scenes, indicating a dynamic era for musical styles and their recognition.
